SHP Import

Importing GIS data is simple in Ürban PAD. To get started, follow the tutorial below.

Importing Road Networks

Step 1: Make an SHP file

  • Transform your GIS data into an SHP file.
  • Load the SHP file into a GIS software.

Recommended GIS software: Quantum GIS and fGIS are free and easy to use.

  • Select the area you want to export from the SHP file.

  • Click Yes to continue when prompted.

  • Verify that the number of roads is reasonable. The amount of time it will take to import the surface is directly proportional to the number of roads. A network of 440 roads will take about 1 minute to load on a standard machine.
