The Context Generator is an Ürban PAD feature located in the City Project Settings area of the Toolbar. It allows you to create an activity template whose appearance changes as its context changes.
Within the four Editors and City Designer, the term context is used to refer to the different global conditions that the simulator applies to regenerations of individual parcels or cities. These conditions are defined by you, as rules, using Context Generator and applying them as Existence Policies using tag values.
Using the Context Generator is a quick and powerful way to apply contextual change to activity templates without having to re-create each parcel under different conditions.
Many games now standardize the day/night cycle as a basic feature. Tomorrow, adapting a game to different seasonal contexts will be standard. Context Generator greatly increases the possibilities for the range of contexts you might imagine and gives you wide flexibility in adapting your city to different atmospheres without painstaking extra work.
Adding context to your game city could very well constitute a marketing advantage in both prototyping and production.
The Context Generator is located in the City Project Settings tab of the Toolbar. To add a tag value, click the Add button to bring up the Tags window.
In this example, the StringRange tag type has been selected. Next, enter the text for the tag that you wish to define.
Here, we have added opening_time,closing_time (the text must be separated by commas, with no spaces between the comma and the next piece of text). Finally, you will give the tag a name - opening_hours in this example - and check on the green arrow to add the tag to the Context Generator.
You could also add a tag corresponding to temperature value by following the same procedure and selecting IntRange as the tag type. Following the same procedure, you will define an integer range over which you would like the tag to apply.
